Elizabeth line journey times to east London
Now fully open, the high frequency Elizabeth line has helped open up Stratford as one of London’s most dynamic and innovative business neighbourhoods and a new employment hub for the whole of London.
- 16 Jan 2024
One of the best connected destinations in London, Stratford is closer than you think with the Elizabeth line shortening journey times across the city.
Think stunning parks, canal walks and world-class facilities set in tree-lined boulevards. And, with the best transport links in the city, the world is Stratford’s oyster.
As of May 2023, the final Elizabeth line extension has been completed. The extension has added a further increase in the number of trains during peak times and passengers will also now be able to take a train all the way from Shenfield to Heathrow Airport.
The opening of the Elizabeth line cemented Stratford as the best-connected hub in London. You can now get from Paddington to Stratford in under 20 minutes.
These direct links build on the existing rail transport infrastructure Stratford’s known for, which includes the Central and Jubilee lines, Overground, DLR and national rail services. It means 220 trains will leave Stratford station every hour at peak times – only London Bridge and King’s Cross/St Pancras can beat that during the peak morning period.
Stratford Cross is one of the most innovative locations for forward-thinking businesses in the UK, and the completion of the Elizabeth line has made it even easier to access. With over one million square feet of office space already let, the development’s landmark 22-storey office building – the Turing Building – will open in 2024. Featuring 350,000 sq ft of Grade A office space, roof terraces, event and co-working spaces and retail, it’s an exciting time with the building’s first tenant confirmed as boutique cinema brand Everyman.
The traditional employment hub of the city is rapidly moving east, with improved Elizabeth line journey times making travel easier than ever. Stratford is a mere 20 minutes from Bond Street, 13 minutes from Tottenham Court Road and only 10 minutes from Farringdon – a place where east truly meets west.
With 10 brand new stations, the Elizabeth line caters for up to 200 million people a year and stops at 41 accessible stations. The full opening of the line is just part of a growing momentum at Stratford Cross; the 24-hour neighbourhood that is fast becoming one of the most exciting destinations for forward-thinking businesses and organisations in the UK.
