A New Dawn for Dance at Sadler's Wells East

When you think of London's dance scene, Sadler's Wells immediately comes to mind. One of the world's leading performing arts organisations chose Stratford, our vibrant neighbourhood and the place to be in 2025, as the home of its new state-of-the-art theatre, Sadler's Wells East. This hub for dance sits in the heart of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park at East Bank, the UK’s newest cultural quarter at Stratford, and a flourishing destination surrounded by some of London's most exciting experiences.

Having opened its doors in February 2025, Sadler's Wells East is already wowing audiences with its inaugural programme of performances. Keep reading to discover more about this world-class theatre in Stratford and what to expect during its opening season and beyond.

About Sadler's Wells East

Local roots, national impact and global perspectives are the concepts underpinning Sadler's Wells East, a sister theatre to the organisation's Angel and Holborn sites and the fourth Sadler's Wells venue in London. Designed by award-winning architects O'Donnell + Tuomey, the building features six studios and a dynamic 550-seat theatre, which will be transformed at various points according to what's on, creating memorable and immersive environments to enhance the audience experience. It's also home to the Academy Breakin' Convention (ABC) and Rose Choreographic School, two pioneering programmes providing education and training to support the next generation of performing artists.

Community Engagement

Dance is a universal language, and Sadler's Wells East has been designed as a place where people can create, share and connect. The venue features a public performance space in the large, light-filled foyer, aptly named The Dance Floor, making the art of dance accessible to all. It's a place where everyone can enjoy free events and workshops, including open dance sessions, artist takeovers, DJ nights and more.
